La Serena

The farm “La Rasa” has been in Mantengoli family since 1933. We started with our quality wines, Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino in 1988.

About the winery
At La Serena, everything has a special uniqueness, just like the cellar that was built in 2003 following the bio-architecture principles with a project signed by the Architect Marcello Mantengoli, Andrea’s brother. The winery’s goal is to process and age its wines in a building that is in total harmony with the surrounding landscape, the cellar was built in total respect of the environment and health: this is a building made in brick and Travertine marble, reminiscent of the colors of the Montalcino’s land, with a geothermal system inside. Production: Brunello di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini, Rosso di Montalcino and Olive Oil.

History & Geography
The vineyards that punctuate the gentle hills in Montalcino, the olive groves that are silhouetted in the background, the colors and the scents of one of the world’s most beautiful country are the scenario in which the winery La Serena is located. At first sight its landscape could seem just like a typical Tuscan scenery, but the soul and the uniqueness of the Mantengoli family give an extra touch to a company that has been rooted in the territory for 90 years. La Serena is a family run estate, with Andrea Mantengoli at the helm since 1997. The first Brunello di Montalcino was produced in 1988 with the name “La Serena”. The estate now includes 60 hectare 13 of them are vineyard. La Serena wines have always been produced with respect for tradition and the environment, it is from 2010 that began the process of organic certification.
