San Polino di Fabbro Luigi

San Polino is an organic family-run winery producing Brunello di Montalcino in Montlcino, Italy

About the winery
The winery is small and family run. We work to understand our environment and produce a Brunello di Montalcino as a reflection of its varied and biodiverse terroir, which will include aspects relating to geology, ecology, microbiology, botany, the weather amongst many other things including ourselves, the people making the wines. Our Brunellos have achieved a great reputation and we hope that all who drink them will enjoy them.

History & Geography
The house of San Polino dates back to the 1300s. It was built on a hilltop at 450m altitude, with south facing slopes that look towards the Monte Amiata, now extinct volcano, worshipped by the Etruscans and beautiful in its serenity. Our soils are varied, from slate, marl, sand, clay, silt to chalk. The forest surrounds the 7 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards on 3 sides, and are full of wild life: boar, porcupines, deer, hare snakes and lizards, all of which walk through our vineyards, pausing for a bite(!) and adding to their ecological complexity .
