Josetta Saffirio

We are in the Langhe, were vineyards embrace the hills as if they were embroidery, where the sweet smell of grapes becomes entangled with the fog

About the winery
Only ten minutes away from Barolo, on the top of a hill, there is a street that brings you a straight to the winery, to a tasting, to a cellar in the middle of the vineyards We are in Castelletto, a subzone of Monforte d’Alba, one of the eleven towns where it is possibile to produce Barolo. It is among these vineyard-covered hills that the Sara Vezza Winery finds its home. Vine-growing is an art, capable of unifying an entire territory through love and dedication, a rare synergy between man’s passion and a generous land.

History & Geography
The gnome, emblem of the winery since the times of Ernesto, father of Josetta and grandfather to Josetta’s daughter Sara, the last exponent of the Saffirio family, is depicted on the labels of the winery’s production and continues to fascinate the newer generations. We are in the Langhe, the land were some of the most precious Italian wines are made: Barbera, Nebbiolo, and the king of wines, Barolo. On the hill of Castelletto, extending over a total of five hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated with Nebbiolo, the Sara Vezza winery grows its vines and, harvest after harvest, tells a story of excellence. The winery is perfectly integrated with the landscape; it is isolated with natural cork and is certified organic and sustainable, working for over than ten years now with great care and love for the environment throughout the entire production process.
