Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Château Smith Haut Lafitte is located on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux in a beautiful natural setting surrounded by woods and vines.

About the winery
Our vines are grown according to the Bio-Precision method, combining age-old techniques (on-site cooperage, hand picking, ploughing with a horse in the white wine vineyard, beehives to enhance biodiversity, etc.) and state-of-the-art technology, especially in the cellar. In July 2017, the estate grew to include the Forest of the 5 Senses, a land art trail with monumental contemporary art works. The Sources de Caudalie luxury hotel located opposite the château prolongs the experience in the heart of the wine country with first-class accommodation, a Vinotherapy® spa, and 3 restaurants (one of which has two Michelin stars). Time stands still here. Our staff are details-oriented and motivated by a quest for excellence in all respects. The teams who welcome visitors at the boutique, multiple workshops, and receptions share the same emphasis on quality.

History & Geography
Located on the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves great growth, is in the heart of 78 hectares of vines. For over six centuries, generations of owners have managed this estate in a tradition of excellence and a respect for the environment. In 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard fell in love with the estate, acquired it, and invested in it with the firm intention of perpetuating this tradition. Consisting of 7 red and white wine varieties, the vines are in a single block. The fabulous terroir (gravel, river stones, and semi-precious stones) is ideally suited to producing outstanding wines with a subtle smoky aroma. The château has embraced environmentally-friendly winegrowing practices for many years.
