History & Geography
Located in the Adelaida District of the west side of Paso Robles, Halter Ranch has a vibrant history and exceptional soils. The elevation of the property ranges from 1,400 to 2,300 ft with the soil being made up of predominantly calcareous shale and mudstone with smaller strata of silicious limestone. The calcareous parent material creates soils with a relatively neutral pH with the average being around 8.0. By having calcium-rich soil that extends deeper into the earth, roots are able to better intake nutrients at all levels of soil. These characteristics, coupled with warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to mature while maintaining a bright acidity.
