Wiston Estate

The Goring Family has stewarded Wiston Estate’s land since 1743. The vines planted in 2006 is the fruit of Pip’s dream.

About the winery
Awarded Winery of the Year 2018, the beautiful family-run Wiston Estate offers Wine Tours by appointment from their vineyard nestled in the heart of the rolling South Downs in West Sussex. Each scheduled tour begins with fresh coffee and biscuits in their Wine Barn and is followed by an informative walk through the vineyard. There is then a short tractor-pulled trailer ride over the South Downs to visit the winery with Wiston’s traditional Coquard Press (unique to the UK). The tour concludes with a tutored tasting of 4 of Wiston’s English Sparkling wines overlooking the vines. These Scheduled Tours are £20 per person and last approximately 2.5 hours.

History & Geography
Straddling the chalky slopes of the South Downs, Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743. Sussex beef herds, grazing sheep and arable crops have been part of the Estate landscape for centuries. It was not until the arrival of Harry Goring’s wife, Pip, in 1972 that the idea of planting a vineyard took hold.
