Krško Wine Cellar

In our charming castle ambience where tradition and contemporary time walk hand in hand, visitors can enjoy guided cellar tours and wine tastings.

About the winery
The Krško Wine Cellar resides in the Dolenjska winegrowing district, impressing since 1928 with quality and premium wines. We're part of the Krško Agricultural Cooperative, its biggest organization-production unit, building on a wealth of local tradition, decades of experience, closeness to the land and application of modern technology, all of which make us a standout producer of quality wines as well as the leading brand of Cviček PTP. Our vineyards in Sremič grow grape varieties for our premium wines: Blaufränkisch, Grüner Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling and Sauvignon, bottled in classic, premium as well as predicate styles. The Krško Wine Cellar's most important trademark is the international wine specialty CVIČEK PTP, recognized by the staple red labels showing our old castle cellar, a popular sight across Slovenia.

History & Geography
The Krško Wine Cellar ages its wines in the cellars of the old castle estate, once the home of the princely counts of Auersperg. In the 18th century, the economy of the Turn Castle by Krško was at its peak and in 1770 it was upgraded with the splendidly preserved wine cellar, then storing a variety of mostly white wines. In contemporary time, this is where we keep our Cviček. The counts held many vineyards in the surroundings, recorded extensively in the Turn Castle Fund of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana.
