Budureasca

In the heart of the Dealu Mare vineyard, in an oasis of peace, rise the sunny hills of the Budureasca vineyards

About the winery
Budureasca Cellar is just an hour’s drive from the Romanian capital, Bucharest. It is one of the most modern cellars in Romania. It covers an area of 5200 square meters, it is burried on three of its sides to ensure thermal stability and provide an effective space for an annual production and storage capacity of 3,5 million litres of wine. The cellar includes 3 main units: the production-fermentation section, the conditioning-storage area, and the area where the maturation and aging processes takes place. We produce wines from noble native and international varieties out of which 55% are red and 45% are white. Our native varieties are Tamaioasa Romaneasca, Feteasca Neagra, Feteasca Regala, Feteasca Alba, Busuioaca de Bohotin. We have also established an organically grown vineyard and a totally separate area in the wine cellar, where we produce organic wine. The most recent projects refer to the production of Sparkling and Orange wines.

History & Geography
Budureasca is a name that takes its roots in antiquity and a beautiful story of Romanian wine. Budureasca vineyards are set in the heart of the famous Dealu Mare region (located in the Southern Subcarpathians) and spread over an area of approximately 275 hectares, embracing the 45 Wine Parallel being placed on the same geographical coordinates as the well known Bordeaux region. The altitude of Budureasca vineyards ranges from 175m to 400m above the sea level. The conditions favor in particular the production of black grapes, but white grapes also enjoy extremely favorable conditions, resulting in very aromatic and fruity white wines. The Southern positioning, sunny location and extremely rich soils, consisting of chernozems and limestone, offer our vines properties difficult to find in other regions of the country. The temperate continental climate, with frequent hot air coming from the Mediterranean side, also contributes to the exquisite quality of the wines produced at Budureasca.
