History & Geography
A Serenada is located in the southern part of the wine region of the Peninsula de Setúbal. The vineyards are located 10 km from the Alentejo coast, benefiting from the influence of the Atlantic breeze. Its location, 150 m above sea level, on the Grândola mountain range, provide the necessary nocturnal freshness for proper maturation. The first reference to A Serenada, was found in a family will dated 1646. The property has been in the family of Jacinta Sobral da Silva for over 300 years. The passion for wine started with António Gomes Sobral (Jacinta's father), who in 1961 planted “some vines” (Castelão, Baga, Camarate and Bastardo). At the time, wine was made in the first own cellar and sold in bulk to friends. After António Gomes Sobral passed away, Jacinta continues her father's many years of work and in this way, a new chapter in the history of A Serenada begins in 2008 with the planting of the new vineyards, construction of the winery and creation of the commercial brand.
