Vinchio Vaglio Serra

VINCHIO-VAGLIO SERRA WELCOMES ANY FRIEND AND LOVER OF TRADITION AND GOOD WINE INTO THE HEART OF MONFERRATO – UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE

About the winery
We represent now 192 family wine growers who take daily care of 450 hectares mostly planted in Barbera grapes (75% of our production) and all other indigenous grapes from Piedmont. Our terroir is characterized by a distinctive terroir of calcareous soils in Nocche, sandy soils in Vinchio and mostly clay soils in Vaglio what makes the Barbera of Vinchio-Vaglio unique for the structure (white soils), elegance (sandy soils) and aromas (clay soils). Our winery is connected to the vineyards through a path that nestles in the Natural Reserve of Val Sarmassa, an incredible overview of our territory and biodiversity mixing steep slopes hills vineyards, woods, and asparagus cultivation. We will inaugurate soon our Big Bench on the highest hill of the area. The winery which mixes very traditional viticultural methods, like manual work in the vineyards including hand harvesting with modern practices, such as temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, solar panels and a high tech bottling.

History & Geography
We are a cooperative born in 1959 from the idea of 19 winegrowers of both villages Vinchio and Vaglio Serra. We are in Piedmont, Monferrato, core zone of UNESCO World Heritage Patrimony, right at the foot of the Alps. We became the reference point for the production of Barbera since a project called "Vigne Vecchie" which started in 1987 when the cooperative Vinchio Vaglio decided to commit with some of the winegrowers to maintain the beautiful patrimony of the oldest vines of minimum 50 years old.
