History & Geography
In 1603 Gio Francesco Giustiniani bought the estate, enhancing the vineyards and building the neoclassical villa, which still dominates the hill. In 1611 the Fathers of San Nicolò del Boschetto in Genoa, that belonged to the Benedictine order, acquired the property that remained their heritage until 1798, when Napoleon confiscated all the ecclesiastical estates. For the quality of its soil and for its stunning and timeless beauty, the property had been owned by many Genoese important families and powerful entrepreneurs. The Giustiniana estate has been acquired in 2016 by Magda Pedrini and Stefano Massone, both bearers of a long history in the world of Gavi wine. United by the dream of enhancing the historical estate, heritage of the Gavi lands, they dedicate attention and scrupulous care to the cultivation of the vines in order to enhance the aromas and scents of the Cortese grapes; at the same time they are re-evaluating the architectural heritage, a noble witness of a previous age.
