We would be pleased to take you for a visit of our suggestive cellars and taste some of our products: our organic fine wines, organic extra virgin olive oil and honey. The history of the region is carved in the winery. You’ll be able to see all the processes carried out in the estate. The wines tastings are carried out in the cellar tasting room or in the beautiful garden. Petrolo’s vineyards extend across 31 Ha of which 26 Ha are in production to date. With an altitude between 250 and 450 meters a.s.l. our vineyards grow over moderately loose-packed soil with rocky stratifications of limestone, sand, claystone and flakes of shale typical of the Chianti area. We have around 5500 plants per hectare trained to produce very low yeald around 25 Hl per hectare.

History & Geography
The Downton Abbey of Tuscany for fine, authentic surroundings! Petrolo is placed in Val d’ Arno di Sopra on the south-east side of the Chianti mountains bordering Chianti Classico. Valdarno Superiore DOC area in Tuscany took back the original denomination as one of Tuscany’s four great wine areas established by the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo III De Medici in 1716. Petrolo was part of the old medieval fieldom of “Galatrona”, place of extreme natural beauty and archaeological and historical importance. The Tower of Galatrona raised on top of Roman foundations, stands-out restored from the remains of a medieval castle, dominating the hills. The winery was bought by the Bazzocchi family in the 40s and since the end of the 80s the production has changed to concentrate exclusively on results of the highest quality. The "Villa" was built by the architect and sculptor Massimiliano Soldani Benzi as his own residence between 1700 and 1750.
