Winery Cantina Merano

A special place for wine enthusiasts - the Winery Cantina Merano

About the winery
A total of about 360 members, small and micro producers, cultivate approximately 250 hectares of the best vineyards in Merano and the surrounding areas, as well as in the adjacent valley called Vinschgau (one of the driest Alpine valleys with extreme climatic conditions). Thanks to their combined strength the winegrowing in the western part of South Tyrol obtains a strong and successful profile. More than 20 different grape varieties find best conditions here, including the 3 indigenous grape varieties: Vernatsch, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer. The wide range of many different wines is unique and strength of the Winery Cantina Merano. This Winery is a must for anyone who loves architecture, design and wine! Immerse yourself in the world of winemaking: from the new wooden barrel and barrique cellar on the lowest and most mysterious floor, to the delivery and processing areas and further up to the extraordinary panoramic vinotheque, where the wines of the Winery Merano can be tasted.

History & Geography
The Winery Cantina Merano arose from the merger of two local, traditional wineries: the Winery Merano and the Winery Burggräfler. With the reconstruction of the historical winery in Marlengo between 2011 and 2013 the assortment has been renewed: The diversity of the area around Merano and of the “Vinschgau” valley has been brought together in four different wine lines: the classic introductory “Festival” line, the high-quality traditional “Graf” line, the outstanding top line of wines from special individual vineyards with rigorous yield reduction and the “Vinschgau” line of extreme alpine wines.
