La Ciarliana

Cradled in the heart of the sweet rolling Tuscan hills in Montepulciano, La Ciarliana embodies a lifelong dream.

About the winery
Named after an intimate and deeply suggestive chapel nestled in the vineyards surrounding the estate, whose bell tower has inspired the family run winery’s logo, it is the history of the local earnest authenticity, skilful know how, care and respect for the nature. Love for the quality and for this unique soil. The property has increased from the former 2 hectares to 21, now producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano and Chianti.

History & Geography
La Ciarliana winemaking activity traces back to the passion Luigi Frangiosa inherited through his father, Santo Pellegrino, and that begun with his grandfather Luigi 50 years earlier, in the 60s’, when he initiated the grape growing activity. The first Vino Nobile di Montepulciano bottled vintage dates 1996. The vineyards, with a density of 5000 vines per hectare, have been planted following an in-depth geological and clone study; the terroir, the attentive care to the vines and the drastic selection of the grapes give to the wines their remarkable structure and body. The unique, deeply traditional style comes from the scrupulous respect of the Sangiovese’s inner characteristics.
