Cosimo Maria Masini

Discover organic and biodynamic Tuscan wines, where viticulture has developed for more than 2000 years.

About the winery

Cosimo Maria Masini is a boutique biodynamic winery and farm in a little nook of San Miniato.

Our vineyards extend about 15 hectares and olive orchards are nearly 7 hectares. We appreciate Tuscan indigenous varieties like Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, Vermentino, Malvasia Bianca and Nera and the very rare grape Sanforte. At the same time we also work with international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc.

Here we produce wine and extra virgin olive oil and create enogastronomic experiences for our guests. You can come to us for a wine tour to discover what biodynamic approach is, to enjoy sun-kissed Tuscan hills, walk around the vineyards and cypresses. Then it's time for a wine tasting or a light lunch!

Do you want to go on a unique adventure and find a delicious truffle? We also offer truffle hunting with a professional truffle hunter and his dog.

History & Geography

Cosimo Maria Masini is situated in the heart of Tuscany, right in the middle of the way from Florence to Pisa. Our Tenuta lies in the hills of San Minato, an ancient medieval village found along the historical road Via Francigena which unites Canterbury and Rome. Foodies from different countries and regions of Italy come to San Miniato to taste world-renowned white truffle and local wines.

In this area, viticulture has developed for more than 2000 years since the time of Etruscan civilization.

Now the heart of the estate is Villa la Selva, an ancient residence that belonged to the Buonaparte Family. It was later purchased by Marchese Cosimo Ridolfi, a famous agronomist of the time, who, during the mid 1800’s constructed the winery (which is still used today) and began to work the vineyards with innovative techniques of the time.
