Domaine du Chat Blanc

Organic wine estate located in Saint-Didier at the foot of Mont Ventoux in Provence.

About the winery
We make our organic wines in the most natural way possible, respecting nature and the earth while expressing the richness of the terroir. It is essential for us to be in harmony with nature and to adopt the best ecological practices. Thus, instead of using chemistry and weed killers, the vineyard is mechanically worked. For fertilization, chemicals are prescribed and replaced by organic amendments using natural green fertilizers, respecting the soil balance. Gentle winemaking is also organic with a constant desire to limit inputs throughout the winemaking process, in order to make a wine as natural as possible and to promote the expression of the terroir. Guess who inspired us for our domain name and label? At home, she leads us by the nose! She knows how to make herself respected, participates in our joys as well as our sorrows and occupies a full place in our family. Our sweet cat Bonbon deserved to become the mascot of our vineyard!

History & Geography
Ventoux AOC is located in the southeastern region of the Rhône wine region of France, where the wines are produced in 51 communes of the Vaucluse département along the lower slopes of the Ventoux mountain and at the foot of the Vaucluse Mountains. The Provençal climate of AOC Ventoux wines is Mediterranean. The sun is a fundamental part of it. The sky is more intensely blue, fragrances are enhanced, colours are magnified. The sun shines between 2,700 and 2,900 hours a year in Provence; as early as May, vineyards as well as olive and almond trees get a record amount of sunshine. The Mistral wind is inseparable from the land of AOC Ventoux wines. It bends trees, and urges the local ’Comtadins’ to protect their homes and crops against it. It also prevents dampness, drying vineyards and plantations in record time.
