Arton

An authentic family vineyard in the heart of Gascony, for lovers of estate grown wines and rare Haut Armagnac spirits. Awarded the Prix d'Excellence.

About the winery
Patrick de Montal is the owner of the Arton estate. He grows his vines, raises his wines, and distills them to elaborate a range of critically-acclaimed Armagnacs : from the original Fine Blanche®, the first white unaged Armagnac (1985) to Vintages. Their singularity imposes Haut Armagnac as a land of innovation.

History & Geography
Labelled “AOC” (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée), since 1936, the Armagnac area includes three distinct terroirs : Bas Armagnac, Armagnac-Ténarèze, and Haut Armagnac. The Haut Armagnac is the largest region, but its altitude and its landscape of limestone hills present a challenge for viticulture. With Domaine d'Arton, a vineyard of 88 hectares, Patrick de Montal has resurrected this terroir since 1979. Planted with 8 grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, this diversity is a sign of the singularity of our wines (dry whites, off-dry whites, reds and rosé).
