History & Geography
Modern viticulture was established in the region as early as the twelfth century. The Thermenregion wine-growing area is situated south of Vienna and extends from Perchtoldsdorf to Bad Voeslau. At the heart of it are the traditional winemaking villages of Gumpoldskirchen and Traiskrichen, home to all of Weingut Alphart´s vineyards. Here the mild climate and the leached limestone soils provide optimal conditions for the vines. A longside the Burgundian varietals, it´s first and foremost the white autochthonous specialities Rotgipfler and Zierfandler that lend the Thermenregion its unique flair.
