About the winery
Located in the heart of premium wine region, McLaren Vale, Penny's Hill is home to many renowned award winning wines, made by winemaker Alexia Roberts. In 2016 the 2014 Edwards Road Cabernet Sauvignon won the "World's Best Cabernet" in a competition judged by French sommeliers at Concours International des Cabernets. The cellar door is also home to the Black Chook and Thomas Goss range of wines, each celebrating the premium red wine varieties of McLaren Vale and whites from the Adelaide Hills. A family owned business set up by Tony Parkinson 31 years ago, Penny's Hill has been awarded many trophies and accolades for the wines over the years, particularly since 2014 when winemaker, Alexia Roberts, took the helm. All red wines are made from premium McLaren Vale fruit and the whites under each of the 3 brands are made from the cooler climate Adelaide Hills vineyards.

History & Geography
The cellar door is situated on the historic "Ingleburne" property. Built in 1855 by Thomas Goss after striking gold in theVictorian goldrush, the homestead and surrounding buildings now house the cellar door, gin bar and entertaining spaces. Penny's Hill estate grown wines are sourced from 2 vineyards, one slightly elevated at the foothills which produces the single vineyard range of wines with fine tannin structure and elegance derived from the terroir of this particular site. The vineyards surrounding the cellar door on the valley floor are perfectly suited to the Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines which thrive in the maritime climate due to the region's proximity to the sea.
