Mount Pleasant Wines

The birthplace of Australian winemaking...

About the winery
It was 1921 and Maurice O’Shea wasn’t afforded the luxury of electricity. Equipped with only basic tools and an old basket press, O’Shea brought Mount Pleasant to life. More than 90 years on, the equipment and names have evolved, but the principles and the vineyards remain the same. Along with a philosophy of honouring O’Shea’s legacy through individual wines, special sites and celebrated styles.

History & Geography
Nestled in the lower Hunter Valley, our iconic estate is the perfect location to sample some of the best wines in the region. The natural beauty of the site is framed by the backdrop of the stunning Brokenback Range and the scenery would have changed very little from the time of Maurice O’Shea. Founded in 1921 by Maurice O'Shea, the history of our vineyard is closely intertwined with the history of the Australian wine industry.
