Greenstone Vineyards

Wines of purity from ancient & complex soils

About the winery
In the vein of our founders, Greenstone is committed to producing the best wines possible, making no compromises on quality and with a strong focus on elegance. Our focus on producing only the finest wines from the finest grapes means that Greenstone has only ever produced very small quantities of wine – we are not interested in making higher volume commercial wines, rather small volume, handcrafted and premium wines. With sweeping views of the Yarra Valley, and the Dandenong ranges beyond, the Greenstone Vineyards cellar door in the Yarra Valley creates an opportunity for everyone to try wines from our Yarra Valley and Heathcote vineyards

History & Geography
Greenstone was established in Heathcote in 2003 with a fastidiously conceived, close planted vineyard by three global industry luminaries; Alberto Antonini (Poggiotondo & Antinori, Chianti), David Gleave MW (Liberty Wines, UK) & Mark Walpole, Vigneron & former Viticulturist at the highly acclaimed Brown Brothers, Australia. Thanks to these trailblazers, our Shiraz & Sangiovese wines have long been regarded as the pinnacle outcome of exceptional site and viticulture. Our operation broadened in 2015 with the acquisition of the former Yarra Ridge vineyard & winery in the renowned Yarra Valley. Planted in 1983 by Melbourne solicitor Louis Bialkower (with help from his then law firm partner & Australian wine legend James Halliday!), this site provides an outstanding source for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and more.
