Ronco Calino

The hidden oasis in Franciacorta

About the winery
Ronco Calino is a place of refuge apart surrounded by ten hectares of organic vineyards and immersed in the sounds and colours of nature. There, time seems to slow, and painstaking attention and the ability to wait are the essential conditions that create Franciacortas with authentic personalities, vibrant and luminous as the special place where they take shape. Every bottle is made with grapes coming from the winery-owned vineyards and is an expression of aromatic complexity thanks to the long contact with the yeasts. However, the path which leads to the creation of valuable wines begins much earlier, in the vineyard: the variety of soils and the ideal exposure of the rows, which face north and welcome the breezes from Lago d’Iseo, provide fully-ripe grapes, crisp musts, therefore long-lived wines. These felicitous conditions are preserved in the cellar where human interference is reduced to its lowest terms.

History & Geography
The “place where one’s heart rests” exists, and for Paolo Radici, wine-passionate businessman, inspiration struck as in 1996 he visited the extraordinary corner of Franciacorta, sheltered by the hill on which the piano master Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli built his house. The residence was perfect, light-filled and airy, with a 360° view out over the countryside, stretching from Lago d’Iseo to the plain. It was also surrounded by a vineyard, whose sight re-awakened his youthful dream of making wine for himself and his friends. And that's how, in 1999, Radici began the construction of the winemaking facility at the foot of the hill, satisfying the technological requirements of a modern winery aspiring to excellence. Particular attention is devoted to hospitality too. Nowadays, Ronco Calino is a real haven for winelovers who are welcomed in fancy halls adorned with unusual details like titanic chandeliers and hanging sofas.
