Csányi Pincészet

Csányi Winery in Villány has been committed to wine making since 1881. Join us for a glass of new taste.

About the winery
„No good wine is produced without commitment”, -these are the words of Zsigmond Teleki, the founder of the Csányi Winery’s predecessor Chateau Teleki back in 1881. It’s been awhile, but we still maintain the same attitude and devotion while growing and processing our wines. Currently the winery plantations stretch on the 365 hectares and are planned to be increased in the nearest future, adding more white grape varieties to its collection. Just few years ago the winery got a complete renovation, bringing the wine making process to a new level, but at the same time preserving the old, respected traditions. That's how it manages to keep the inspiration bottled.

History & Geography
Villány is the southern most and one of the oldest wine-growing region of Hungary, having very beneficial climatic conditions. It is at the same geographical latitude as the northern part of the Bordeaux wine-growing region. Its climate is considered to be unique from the aspect of viticulture, because the ranges of the Villányi Mountain parries the unfriendly, cold winds from the north, at the same time the warmth of the southern slopes protected from many sides is strengthened by the mild air arriving from the region of the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the Csányi Winery goes back to 1881, when its predecessor Chateau Teleki was found by Zsigmond Teleki, who became very famous at that time for finding decease resistant varieties during the philoxera epidemic that swept all over the Europe. Therefore the fine wines have been produced here for centuries surprising with its new tastes and flavors.
