About the winery
When in 1954 Segura Viudas gathered the evidence of lands that today form the Heredad, we already knew the centennial agricultural tradition that took place and some references of the vestiges that their walls were hiding. Evenly, we were aware of the value a privileged emplacement like that could pass on to the cava and wines. 50 years later we still being loyal to that foundational view: a view guided by the consistency and respect for the land, the landscape and the history that integrates the latest scientific knowledge in an environmental sustainable plan. Just so, we understand we can create the cava and wines in harmony of the Heredad.

History & Geography
Millennial History The origins of Heredad Segura Viudas should be searched around the XI century, in the middle of the Reconquista. When in XII century hostilities ended in these latitudes, agricultural uses began to take leadership. La masia (typical Catalan rural house) we observe today is the result of the different uses it has had for more than 10 centuries and a closer look is required to help us to understand what we can see today. We work viticulture in a sustainable way, within a privileged environment, in order to extract the highest quality in each bottle of wine. In addition, our old vines, over 40 years old, are harvested manually, as our ancestors did. Segura Viudas is an organic winery (CCPAE certification). We also have the WfCP: Wineries for Climate Protection certification. It is the first and only specific certification for the wine sector in environmental sustainability. We practice sustainable tourism working with the Biosphere Tourism certification.
