About the winery
Paul Cluver was the first to establish a vineyard and wine cellar in the scenic Elgin Valley in 1896. The estate remains in the family today and continues making a wide selection of wines including: Sauvignon blanc, Riesling ,Chardonnay, Noble Late Harvest, Pinot Noir and a cider called Cluver/Jack. The estate offers tastings of the full range of wines as well as our premium Seven Flags Chardonnay and Seven flags Pinot Noir. Our food and wine pairing on offer is very unique and prepared by the fine dining restaurant on the estate called SALT. We are a family friendly wine farm and offer mountain bike trails for the adventure-seekers.

History & Geography
Paul Cluver Wines is a family owned and run estate that was instrumental in the success and recognition of the Elgin ward as a fine wine producing area of South Africa. It has been in ownership of the Cluver Family since 1896. The wine business forms part of larger holistic farming business called De Rust Estate. In addition to the vineyards and cellar, there are apple and pear orchards, a Hereford stud and eco-tourism activities, including amphitheatre concerts, on the farm. This estate forms part of the UNESCO world heritage site, the Kogelberg Biosphere. Half the estate is set aside for conservation into perpetuity.
