About the winery
The farm, Far Horizons, is just off the R45 near Paarl on the Swartland border. A fully working farm where vine stock and livestock thrive in harmony. We create wines with character and personality, wines which respect the fruit and have an inherent elegance to them. The farm has outstanding natural beauty with an abundance of fynbos. Olive trees lead the way to the manor house, pomegrante bushes encircle the vineyards with much more in between. The farm is continually evolving planting new cultivars as well as home to various livestock. Aberdeen Angus cattle, Ile de France sheep and Bushveldt hens, grysbokkies (they just love the young olive trees) can often be found on the farm. The farm’s four-bedroomed (all en-suite) Manor House is available for limited rental to selected guests. This is our own home; we have created it to be that. It is a fabulous place for a brilliant family holiday. Away from it all, yet close to the attractions of Paarl and the surrounding Winelands areas.

History & Geography
Doran Vineyards is owned by Irish-born, London based Edwin Doran. His Partner/CEO is André Badenhorst, the South African wine icon. In 2008, Edwin said to André that he’d like to have a boutique South African vineyard. André found one in 2010 – measuring 179 hectares. Very boutique! The farm planted it's first vines in 1995 and in 2011 they decided to develop Doran Vineyards as a premium wine estate. The substantial building project (new cellar, offices, barrel hall, tasting room, workshops, etc.) was completed for the 2012 vintage. André runs the farm heading up the South African and international division. Edwin, and son Tom, look after importing the wines into the UK and Ireland.
