Poças is a Portuguese company producing Port and DOC Douro wines since 1918. Located in Vila Nova de Gaia, our Visitor Center is open to the public since 2016 and has been fully renewed in 2018 by the hands of 2 Portuguese arquitects Lúcia Vaz Pato e António Mota. We invite you to be part of a true family atmosphere, to feel the unforgettable aroma of the noblest wines and to see up close a real day to day cellar routine Welcoming about 28 000 visitors per year, our Visitor Center has been distinguished with Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence. A unique journey through Poças’ 100 years with an opportunity to find out more about the history of Douro Demarcated Region and to learn where and how Port Wine is produced. In our Cellar are stored more than 800 casks, where our “golden boys” Tawnies and Colheitas) are breathing and aging for years.Here you will be a real witness of the hustle and bustle of a Port Wine Cellar, even with a cooperage still functioning as needed.

History & Geography
The company was established in 1918 by the hand of Manoel Poças Júnior and his uncle . During the first years the mission of the company was to sell wine spirit dedicated to Port Wine production but years later Poças started to export Port Wine. The Company’s head office is located in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto) but it is in the Douro Demarcated Region where Poças’ 3 Estates are (Quinta das Quartas, Quinta de Santa Bárbara and Quinta de Vale de Cavalos), and where all of the grapes come from. Overtime Manoel Poças Júnior passed on his knowledge and passion for wine to his children and grandchildren. Nowadays Poças lies in the hands of the 3rd and 4th generation , being one of the very few Port Wine company that was born Portuguese and still belongs to the same Portuguese family The Old Tawny Ports have built Poças’ reputation but DOC Douro wines have been proving their own quality over the last 30 years.
