About the winery
Lime Rock is a small producer (9ha) on elevated (270masl) limestone hills located 6km west of Waipawa in Central Hawke's Bay, approximately 40 minutes south of Napier Airport. We produce world class red wines of Pinot Noir, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc and our white wine range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner. Our vineyard has stunning views of the Ruahine Ranges to the west and we (Rodger or Rosie) take visitors on a tour through our vineyard and then return to the cellar door for a tasting. We are small and suited to small groups of 4 people for a unique and personal experience.

History & Geography
Lime Rock Wines was established by Rosie Butler and Rodger Tynan in 2001. Rosie, the winemaker, has extensive winemaking experience (40 years) in New Zealand with Montana Wines and in Australia with Petaluma. Rodger comes from an ecological background having worked for the Department for the Environment in South Australia as a Senior Scientific Officer responsible for the assessment of the impact of grazing on the vast outback pastoral leases. His focus in the vineyard is on maintaining ecological processes-protecting the soil structure and biodiversity-to produce wines that reflect a sense of place.
