Casale di Falchini

Casale Falchini is a historic farm where it stands out for the wine production of reds, whites and vin santo, and excellent extra virgin oils

About the winery
Located just one kilometer from San Gimignano, in the province of Siena, the Casale Falchini winery extends over several hectares of land with specialized vineyards, surrounded by the typical pleasant Tuscan hilly landscape. The area takes its name from the old farmhouse, which was in the past a convent of monks. The farm was founded in 1964 on the initiative of Riccardo Falchini, who with his commitment and seriousness gave life to the first specialized vineyard already in 1968. In 1976, thanks to the precious advice of the winemaker friend Giacomo Tachis, the old cellar was replaced by the new one, equipped with modern systems for cold winemaking and specialized bottling: thus the winery became the first in the area to be equipped with similar modern systems, with which to carry out the cold control of musts and wines. There are many types of wine produced in Casale but 65% of the production is dedicated to Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the first white DOCG in Italy.

History & Geography
The Falchini family, now owner of the San Gimignano farm, have been involved in viticulture, cellars and botany for many generations now: they distinguished themselves already in the service of the Medici between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The State Archive of Florence reports that: "To Carlo Falchini of Pier Giovanni di Lorenzo, born on August 22, 1627, on November 19, 1682 he was granted Florentine citizenship by the sovereign's grace for having served him faithfully". This passion and commitment of the care of the vineyards and in the production of wines still distinguishes the Casale di Falchini farm, still today a historical landmark in San Gimignano.
