About the winery
The Rauen family is a traditional company. We have been living on viticulture for many generations. Generations of winemakers from our family have dedicated their lives to growing Moselle wine. Every child in our homeland grows up with wine from an early age. Thoroughbred winegrowers with body and soul - that's all of us: from grandpa to the youngest. The grandfather of the family, Eduard Rauen, still brings in his great experience every day. The youngest member of the family, son Matthias, has meanwhile also joined the company. All of our vineyards are in the immediate vicinity of the winery. World-famous wine locations have been cultivated by our family's winemakers for many generations. The light slate weathering soils and the special climate of our region that give Riesling a unique, fruity character like nowhere else in the world.

History & Geography
In the 1980s Harald Rauen began to learn viticulture and managed the business together with his parents under the name "Weingut Eduard Rauen und Sohn". The family made a pioneering decision in 1983: If the wine was still sold in casks and traded among a small group of customers, the focus was now on bottle wine marketing. Since then, our products have been available in many wine shops across Germany. We also export to the USA, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium. Harald and Maria Rauen have been running the business together since 1990 under the name "Weingut Familie Rauen". Due to the increased demand, the company building in Detzem quickly became too small. Since moving to neighboring Thörnich in 1997, we have had a much larger operating area for our winery.
