About the winery
Our domain is the work of four generations of successful winemakers in Cléré sur Layon. Maintaining a high level of quality whilst always evolving, the operation has grown from 5 to 83 hectares in 50 years. Diversifying in both grape varieties and soil types in the vineyard has ensured the future passage to the next generation. The varieties selected according to the terrain, the constant and vigilant monitoring during production, with the know-how of traditional winemaking allows us to produce quintessential wines of the appellation.

History & Geography
Founded in 1920 by the Denis grandfather with 5 hectares, the property was taken on by his son in 1946, expanding the vineyard to 23 hectares. Maurice Denis undertook the modernisation in the 1950’s, constructing a modern wine cellar, the purchasing the first tractor in 1959…. In 1962 our last work horses “Loulou” and “Coquette” were returned to the meadow. It was in 1975 that Antoine and Jean-Noel decided to follow in the family tradition and created Domaine du Petit Clocher with their father. They understood very quickly that success comes by developing quality wines, closely monitored from vineyard to bottle. They began to purchase additional land seeking only the best locations in the region. Then they adopted modern techniques to assure the production of quality wine, for example a pneumatic press, two macerating tanks and a sorting table. Since 2000, a fourth generation has arrived at the company : Stephane, Julien and Vincent. They grow 80 hectares on a new winery
