Clairmont

About the winery
In 1972, three families joined forces and created Clairmont, in accordance with their ambition : sharing resources, one vision of high-standard wines made with precision. These families are still here today, the second or third generations are now taking over. Some new recruits also arrived! It is now 7 families and 10 winegrowers sharing the same team spirit, creating together, more than ever. All the wines are designed by the group. Each harvest brought to the cellar by the winegrowers is treated separately to produce special, terroir wines, carrying the same wish to reveal the high standards and quality desired by all of us.

History & Geography
Clairmont is located on the left bank of the Rhône, in the town of Beaumont-Monteux, very near Tain-l’Hermitage and close to Valence. Key player of Crozes-Hermitage, we own 115 hectares in the heart of the appellation, on the famous 45th parallel. A first part of our vines is located in the mountainous area named “Les Chassis”. It lies upon a thick, layer of smooth, rounded pebbles giving good drainage, originating from various eras of the ice age, mixed with red clay. A second area on the very ancient high terraces of Chanos-Curson, a third one in Beaumont-Monteux, on a soil comprised of sandy-clay and alluvium of ice age origin giving good drainage, with very stony and deeper soils. The last one is on the granite slopes of the town of Crozes-Hermitage.
