About the winery
Gilbert Wines is a family run boutique wine producer in the sub region of Mount Barker in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. The cool climate wine region allows us to excel in producing world class wines from our Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. we have 24 acres of vineyard. Our cellar door (opened in 1990) is a rustic renovated old apple packing shed with a joining wine cafe added on to the venue in 2003. Enjoy stunning views of the nearby Porongurup National Park and also our very own culinary garden whilst enjoying regional cuisine and award winning wines.

History & Geography
We are fourth generation farmers of our land. The first two generations planted apple orchards and the second two generations vineyards. Our first vines (Riesling and Chardonnay) were planted in 1985 by Jim and Bev Gilbert. Since then multiple planting have occurred with Shiraz planted in 1987, 1989 and 1997. Cabernet planted in 1997 and more Chardonnay in 1989 and 1994. Our cellar door was opened in 1990 and our wine cafe in 2003. Currently founder Bev Gilbert and two of her three sons (Clinton and Matthew) run the family business.
