History & Geography
The estate was founded back in 1849 by Franz Peter Buhl (1809-1862). The first "Reichsrat" (member in the house of Lords in the kingdom of Bavaria) was Armand von Buhl who was given the honorable title for his achievements in the German social legislation 1883-89. When Von Buhl wines were served at the opening of the Suez Canal, the event signified the Estate’s rise since their opening in 1849 to exalted position as one of the finest Wineries in Germany. It was thanks to their remarkable and sustained reputation that the organisers of the Queen Mother’s 100th Birthday celebrations chose Von Buhl’s Beerenauslese as one of the wines to be served. Reichsrat von Buhl is one of Germany’s iconic estates. Founded in 1849, Buhl’s Rieslings soon became famous for their uncompromising quality and longevity.
