About the winery
The tour begins with the history of the property in relation to the history of wine in Bordeaux with a highlight of the advantages and the particularity of being on the banks of the Garonne. We will continue with a detour in our vineyards to better visualize the cultivation methods used to obtain the best possible grapes. On the way, we will go to the vat dating from 1886 to bring you more explanations on the work of winemaking. Finally, we will discover the cellar and / or our tasting room to enjoy an authentic moment around a tasting of our two red wines, fruit of the 2 years of work necessary for the vine and the cellar. For about 1h15, the owner will be delighted to make the visit to share with you all his knowledge and passion for this area. The visit can be done in English or French.

FROM 14TH TO 16TH CENTURY : BOURDIEUX PRECURSORS OF CHATEAU After draining the alluvial zones, vast fertile spaces allow the polyculture including the vine. In XVI, winepress improve a lot famous "Claret". 16TH CENTURY : THE CHAPEL OF SAINTE BARBE She was a stage of an annual procession on the Garonne as patroness of the Gabariers. 1760 / 1777 : OUR CHARTREUSE CONSTRUCTION The Lynch family ordered the construction of a chartreuse to architect Victor Louis. 18TH TO 19TH CENTURY : A TERROIR FROM MONTFERRAND Château Sainte Barbe is an integral part of "Les Palus de Montferrand" 1863 - THE PHYLLOXERA EPIDEMIC 1886 - CREATION OF THE VAT ROOM A Médoc type vat (already gravity) is integrated into existing buildings. The techniques used then, are new plebiscites nowadays. 1996 - SAINTE BARBE BECOMES A HISTORICAL MONUMENT The chartreuse, its outbuildings and the rose garden are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
