Château la Villatade

Chateau La Villatade, “Our wines are the song of our soil...”

About the winery
The geographical situation of the vineyard makes the grapes profit from a consequent sunshine but also from a beautiful water richness in the underground. The strong presence of the wind contributes actively to the protection of the vines and replaces the best treatments. This terroir in the foothills of the Montagne Noire, shared between shales and limestone, allows the production of wines with a unique expression. On the 16 hectares of vineyard, the production is around 50.000 bottles per year of highly rated wines, in three main appellations: “Minervois”,“Languedoc” and “Pays d’Oc”.

History & Geography
Château La Villatade is a very old wine estate located 10 minutes from Carcassonne in Languedoc. It consists of an Occitan dwelling built around a large square courtyard, surrounded by 130 hectares of preserved nature, olive groves, woods, garrigue and vineyards. Richard & Sophie Andreelli are the owners of Château La Villatade since 2016. After 30 years spent in new technologies, they decided to sell their business, leave their urban lifestyle in the Paris region to live closer to nature, between vineyards and scrubland. Passionate about sustainable development, they fell in love with this wine estate surrounded by a beautiful wild nature with scents of thyme and lavender. And they wanted their vineyard to be in accordance with the principles of biodynamics: a reasoned, clean and environmentally conscious viticulture. They also developed major investment projects: the renovation of the existing buildings for agritourism and wine tourism projects and the full renovation of the cellar
