Château de Gourgazaud is like an island, preched in pinewoods. Overlooking the Syrah ans Mourvèdre vines on the terraces of La Livinière. It’s an universe in itself, where Roger Piquet and his familiy have developed the Minervois lands with pride in both their vines and wines. Far from fashion and sparkle, since 1973, here on the hundred hectare estate, everything has been set up to guide the Château in the culture of quality and the production of great wines. In addition to the stylish reds, whose ambition is to combine and tame the impetuous Mediterranean grapes to classic elegance. Château de Gourgazaud, largest producer of AOC La Livinière, has been noted for its whaites and in particular, the exuberant Viognier, born in the black shale of the neighbouring hills.

At the foothills of the Montagne Noire the Château de Gourgazaud nestles in the heart of the appellation “ Cru Minervois La Livinière”. The Château de Gourgazaud is situated in the north central zone of the Minervois, called “Petit Causse”, which makes the best structured red wines for keeping. The village “La Livinière” gets its name from the Romans, Cella Vinaria and meant wine cellar. This ancient Domaine was mentioned on the maps dating back to the 17th century. Château de Gourgazaud was restored to its present condition in 1831. The entire estate stretches over 215 acres (90 hectares) of which 120 acres are classified as Minervois appellation and Minervois La Livinière appellation. The Château is the property of the family Piquet - Tiburce for more than 40 years and is runned by the 2 sisters Annick and Chantale and now by the grandaughters Morgane, Mathilde and Mélanie.
