Château Cabezac

Family run estate in the beautiful Minervois producing range of delicious wines for all tastes

About the winery
Chateau Cabezac is a 35 hectare estate in the beautiful wild Minervois at the foothills of the Causse mountains. We use sustainable farming methods and traditional wine making techniques coupled with a modern approach. Our 3 distinct and complimentary terroirs produce a range of classic and premium wines, fruity, fresh, elegant and complex. We love what we do and are delighted to share it with our guests. Marie who runs our tasting room, boutique and events is very knowlegable not just about wine, but about gastronomy, the local area and culture, flora and fauna, and makes every experience informative and fun. We have a lovely sunny terrace where you can enjoy a glass and a hotel and restaurant opposite where we propose a pairing menu with a perfect wine for each dish. Our sister estate produces rare wines from the soon to be Cru Cazelles terrroir. We also offer visits to the windswept, limestone plateau that they come from. On a clear day it has a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees.

History & Geography
22 years ago Gontran Dondain, a passionate wine enthusiast, gave up his old life to pursue his enduring dream, to make his own wines. He searched the wine regions of France before being seduced by the Minervois for the diversity and potential of its terroir. Over the next 10 years he worked tirelessly to restructure and modernise the vineyards. He then renovated the winery to provide a fitting showcase for his wines and created a boutique hotel and restaurant to best share his passion with visitors. Stephanie his daughter caught the bug and joined him to oversee marketing and sales. The estate's first wine Cuvée Arthur was named after Stephanie's son, born the same year and since then a whole range of red, white and rosé wines have developed into wines to suit all tastes and budgets. Critical acclaim has followed with the wines regularly recognised in international competitions and publications, and their inclusion on wine lists in restaurants across the globe.
