The vineyards are in the Morgon appellation in the Beaujolais region, slightly north-west of Lyon. But, all wines of this appellation come from the small town of Villié-Morgon. The only grape grown is Gamay which produces deep red wines. Each parcel has a different distinctive terroir ranging from sandy silt soil over the clay to the stony ground over pink granite. Therefore, given the characteristics of each terroir, they chose different containers for differents macerations. The seven-decade-old vines planted closest to the house produce the Morgon Château Bellevue Corcelette – Le Clos Réserve Caveau. The very best vintages are used for the Réserve. This winery uses two different vinification methods. One is the typical Burgundy technique of destemming. The other is to vinify in bunches. Then, after just over three weeks of fermentation, the ageing of the wine takes place in oak barrels. Consequently, they produce hearty red with distinctive flavours of dark fruit.

Indeed, owned among others by the celebrated Lumière brothers, the house has plenty of tales to tell. However, the 15 hectares of Crus de Beaujolais vineyards of this estate are also worth shouting about.
