A&D Wines

We craft organic wines with local grape varieties, providing an authentic experience of our culture and terroir

About the winery
Entering Quinta de Santa Teresa, driving up the mountain by the paved accesses, you will notice how the vineyards climb the mountain, supported by huge granitic walls, the figures of old statues guarding romantic gardens and, almost at the top, an unique tasting room by a swimming pool and a grass terrace overseeing the Douro valley landscape. We are all about wine: organic wine made with sustainable practices in our vineyards. But Quinta de Santa Teresa, located in the border between Vinho Verde and the Douro region, offers more than its 33h of vineyards. Points of interest include several buildings of relevant architectural value, gardens, lakes… a variety of cozy, beautiful places that make up for a great tour before the wine tasting! For us, above all, Quinta de Santa Teresa is the best place to understand our wine making philosophy and enjoy our wines, and we’d be very happy to count with your visit!

History & Geography
A&D stands for: Alexandre & Dialina They are the owners of this family company from Baião, a sub-region of Vinho Verde, famous for its typical grape varieties, which produce mostly white wines, of distinct quality. The estate Casa do Arrabalde is in the family for 6 generations and in 1991 they decided to plant the first vineyards. Almost 30 years after A&D Wines transited from having 5h to 45h of vineyards, distributed in the three estates, Casa do Arrabalde, Quinta dos Espinhosos and Quinta de Santa Teresa, acquired during this period. All wines are made from grapes grown in the family estates and vinified in our winery at Quinta de Santa Teresa. The vineyards are organic certified and looked after with care in order to fill the amazing potential our terroir and grapes offer us each vintage. In 2019 we opened Quinta de Santa Teresa to visitors. It has been a charming, rich experience to be able to explain all about our project and give our wines to taste in their birthplace.
