Winding Wood Vineyard

It all started 9 years ago. One summer’s evening we were on the front lawn sipping sun downers and gazing out at our sheep as they contentedly nibbled grass in one of our paddocks when Robert (a co-founder made the famous throwaway remark: instead of grazing these sheep perhaps it would be more rewarding to plant a vineyard. And so on that day in 2012 the die was cast. The following year after much information gathering and soil testing we did indeed plant a boutique vineyard. Roll on 9 years. We planted pinot noir and chardonnay vines and committed ourselves to the production of sparkling wine made in the traditional method, reflecting the unique terroir and character of our small Berkshire vineyard. Each vintage we make consists of only grapes from that year’s harvest. Grapes painstakingly grown, lovingly nurtured and then meticulously picked by hand. Our soil is ideal for sparkling wine. We are planted on free-draining loam over flint and chalk on gentle southeast slopes.
