History & Geography
Fattoria Montanine (Fattoria meaning Farm) is a 74 ha. estate lying 6 km from the outskirts of Florence. Our family came here in 1939 when our father , now also grandfather and great grandfather, fell in love with the beauty of the place, with the graceful and yet majestic trees that are everywhere in clusters, alone and in the forest: Mediterranean pines, olive and cypress trees, holm oaks, covering the Chianti hills all around, with Florence in the distance. Our hills are part of the Florentine Chianti, with the denomination Chianti Colli Fiorentini, we are very close to Chiesanuova Val di Pesa, a village on the old Etruscan road from Florence to Volterra, via Volterrana, now S:P.4. The winery is located in the lovely Villa Montanine, XVII/XVIII c., with some more ancient parts. This is where wine tastings take place. A couple other buildings offer the possibility to stay overnight or even longer. The area is ideal as a starting point for sightseeing, hiking, biking, mountain bik
